Daily Question
How are you serving your Community?
There are 2 different Communities I am part of. One the community at home. Two the community inside. For the community at home, I knew that the only right thing I could do was give back what I could due to what I was a part of. going to rehab at the ZEPF center was a real eye-opener for me. I went there to defeat my drug problem. I knew from numerous unsuccessful attempts of quitting drugs that I could not do this on my own. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Not because I needed to quit drugs even though that was the main reason why I went. But because I got to witnessed the end result of what my actions of selling drugs contributed to. I witnessed the suffering that others were going through. What drug addiction put their families through. Hearing the stories of their life and the things they were dealing with really opened my eyes. I made a decision right away that after I could defeat my demons that I was going to do all I could to share my story. to help others defeat their demons. And that’s exactly what I did. I would try and encourage others that I knew that needed help to go to rehab. Friends and family I knew that had drug problems. Some listened most did not. But I continued down the right path letting others see how I was living a sober drug free life. Going to meetings speaking up in groups. When others seen me doing that, sometimes that was better then talking about it. They would see the new “Pete.” They was amazed cuz they knew the old “Pete” and nobody ever thought I was going to quit doing drugs. That was all they needed was to see what I was doing. See what I had. And they would want that. That peace I was carrying about myself. Before I was sentenced and had to self surrender I went to the Toledo Penitentiary and spoke with inmates as part of a church revival. I volunteered at my church and talked with others who had similar problems to mine. I went to other rehabs in the city and spoke with friends there just to show that they was worth it. Anytime I had ears listening I was sharing. And I continued this to the inside. In here I am trying to get the AA meetings going again. I share at Bible studies and give sermons when I am asked too. I want to do all I can to help others that need help. My goal is start a trucking company and to speak at meetings and churches that I have along my routes while I’m making deliveries. That is my biggest goal I have. That is what I am aiming for and will accomplish. Trucking for freedom from drugs.
