Journal Wednesday July 26 2023
Today I marvel about how much beauty is in the world. I notice it everywhere I look, even here in prison. Nature is really something special. As I walk through the compound, I realize that the flowers we planted everywhere bring me joy. I hope other inmates enjoy them as I do. They are a stark contrast to these white brick walls.
After attending the mandatory RDAP morning meeting and my 9:30 am call out (which was not the ACE class I signed up for, unfortunately) I did not have to report to work. Regardless the day was not wasted. I read chapters 9 and 10 in A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking and composed the second paragraph of my first book report. (Goal #1) The stuff I learned from this book is absolutely mind-blowing. Einstein’s space-time and theory of relativity are my main interest. This is a concept I have been interested in for quite some time. Imagine being able to travel into the future (which would be possible if we could travel at the speed of light) straight to my outdate. 🙂
I later beat the heat by doing something I love, reading my current favorite pass-time novel: Game of Thrones- Storm of Swords by George R.R Martin. I will not be reporting on this series but I am such a big fan that I felt the series deserved a mention.
I am finishing off my night with a breathing and meditation class I take part in here in the RDAP unit. (it’s one of the group classes I can still attend as a wait status) I will center myself and wind down for the night.
