I was asked to write a letter for an education conference by the Director of Southwestern, Raquel, about the impact college has had on me in prison because of my dedication to college. The conference is about all different college programs in all kinds of confinement from juvenile to state to federal prisons.
I did my daily prayer and meditation. Read James in the Bible. Exercised. Went to life skills. Started parenting which I know a lot from Child Psychology class at Southwestern. So I talked about the marshmellow experiment connected to self control. The Bobo experiment connected to learned violence through mimicry. And the addiction tests from the rats that started in the 50’s about desires. I went to both college classes. We learned about Ancient Greece which I’m already very knowledgeable about. And in philosophy we are covering Hinduism which is the oldest religion starting with the Harrapin people who were very peaceful and didn’t have words for war and violence and hadn’t developed any kind of weapon. And the white mountain people came down when the ice age was over and started warming up again. With patronage philosophies and introduced beliefs with more male brovado like Thor for example.
