🎯 Our Mission

At Prison Professors, we provide free, self-directed educational resources to help justice-impacted individuals prepare for success. Our lessons guide people from pre-charge through post-release, teaching self-advocacy, critical thinking, communication, resilience, and career readiness. Our mission is to help participants pursue the highest level of liberty at the soonest possible time—and to influence policy changes that open more mechanisms for people to work toward earning that liberty.

⚖️ Why Defense Attorneys Partner With Us

You advocate for your client’s legal rights. We offer self-directed resources to help them prepare for the road ahead.

When your clients ask:

  • What happens if I go to prison?
  • What should I be doing right now?
  • How can I help myself if this doesn’t go my way?

PrisonProfessors.org provides them with a trusted, time-saving resource—available 24/7, at no cost to you or to them.

“I’m Michael Santos, founder of Prison Professors. I served 26 years in prison. I created this nonprofit to assist others who want to emerge successfully. I make three promises to every participant:

  • I’ll always be truthful.
  • I’ll never ask anyone to do anything I didn’t do while in prison—or that I’m not still doing today.
  • I’ll never charge a penny for any of the resources we publish at PrisonProfessors.org.”

đź’Ľ What We Offer — At No Cost

âś… Free Self-Directed Resources

Through our website, people can access structured, self-paced lessons that help with their mitigation strategies. These resources will teach and inspire—showing participants how to self-advocate, restore confidence, and prepare for success at every phase: from pretrial through the collateral consequences that follow release.

âś… Client Profile Builder (Prison Professors Talent)

We built PrisonProfessorsTalent.com as a free platform to help people memorialize the steps they take to prepare for law-abiding, contributing lives. The personal profiles reflect iterative strategies that show why stakeholders should evaluate individuals based on how they responded to their criminal charge—not just the charge itself. This pathway supports efforts to restore reputation and rebuild purpose.

⏱️ We Help You Save Time

People facing federal charges have many questions about what lies ahead and how to prepare. PrisonProfessors.org provides 24-hour access to lessons and guidance from people who’ve lived through the system—and rebuilt their lives.

Rather than taking time away from your legal work to answer personal development questions, you can point your client to a free resource that teaches them how to prepare for the best possible outcome, and how to grow through the crisis.

🌱 The Impact:

Members of our community:

  • Build self-advocacy campaigns that assist at every stage of the journey
  • Gain ideas for how to create opportunities and succeed upon release
  • Develop a documented track record of growth and initiative
  • Learn how to open pathways and create meaning through adversity

Simultaneously, they contribute to our collective advocacy. Through transparent dashboards, we track progress, apply point systems, and highlight those working hardest to prepare for success. Together, we build a culture of merit-based redemption, grounded in self-directed action.

📌 Everything at PrisonProfessors.org is Free

There are no costs to defense attorneys or to the people they serve. We publish new resources daily, and we encourage members of our community to follow Prison Professors on our social channels to stay informed, engaged, and empowered.
