Today is 8-11-23, and, I’ve completed RDAP and am waiting for my halfway house designation date from grand prairie. After 13 years and 2 months on a 15-year sentence, it appears I’m lost in the FSA application drama. All I can say is I appear to be caught in the tug of war between the people on the right who say we should punish our offenders and the people on the left who believe we should provide rewards and incentives for the offenders who choose to rehabilitate and educate ourselves. In my case, I’ve served over 13 years of my sentence, and I’ve earned an associate’s degree worth of college credits. I’ve earned 4 vocational certifications, I’ve completed RDAP as an inmate peer mentor and I’ve never received a disciplinary. Yet, I’m still incarcerated and my halfway house request has yet to be sent to Grand Prairie for halfway house designation. So, It looks like the folks who are programming are staying in prison longer. As in my case…
