What is the Brave Program? (Part 1)
The Brave program is a modified therapeutic community provide by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. This program is based on Bureau-Rehabilitation-and-values-enhancements (B-R-A-V-E). The community’s philosophy and foundation “You alone can do it, but you cannot do it alone” inspires participants full effort and selflessness.
Encouraged by trial & error learning the Brave Community’s focus of treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. A person’s behaviors and emotions are directly influenced by their perceptions and core beliefs. The Brave Community is a interdependence system dependent upon the willingness of the participants as well as the effective skilled teaching of treatment staff. Generally speaking, the length of treatment is around 6 months but ultimately the length of your participation is dependent upon you. The treatment phases include the Orientation Phase (Phase 1), Core Treatment Phase (Phase 2), and the Transition Phase (Phase 3). During the duration of treatment, participants are given personalized treatment plans to challenge areas in need of improvement.
