Goals and Failure– How can you use accountability and setbacks as tools to refire your goals and grow toward reaching your highest potential? When I came to prison I thought my ability to function was over. It took some tome for me to grasp what I did and how could I overcome this and get back into the good graces of society. I had to get past the people that were telling my “it is over” and that I could not be successful again, those included the guys I was serving with in prison and the staff here. I saw so many guys believe that and they gave up believing them not wanting to achieve their goals. I saw that and it fueled me to not give up and to be stronger than before. This even that happened to me made me learn about myself and to be more open to the situation around me to be better and to know that I have a second chance that I do not want to lose.
Overcoming a Crisis– After considering a challenge you currently face, architect a multi-step plan that if followed would accelerate your path to the result you want. My challenge I faced was coming to prison and having a felon mark on me the rest of my life. I learned that mark can be an advantage to me as I can show them I will work harder and be better than before. With that mark on me I have to prove that I am not going to make a mistake again and be better than the next person. I am using this time to show that my time I have in here I am studying and learning so I can show employers what I have done with my time in here coming out of prison a better person.
Opportunity Costs– How can you prepare today mentally, financially or otherwise to seize the opportunties that future changes may bring rather that looking back with regret at misse. I dont want people to feel sorry for me because I came to prison or see that I might have problems. I want to show them that I have been working hard in here to prove to others that I can come back and be better than I was. I want to show them that can trust me and that my past is gone. This event was a wakeup call for m and I learned that bad things can happen to anyone at anytime without really knowing what will happen tomorrow. I am thankful for what I have gone through and what I have accomplished and thankful for the direction that I am going.
Ripple Effects– What small measurable steps could you commit daily your own personal KPI that would help you move toward a higher potential regardless if the walls or barriers you may be facing? I want to show people who have never been to prison that this place can be used to benefit that person who went to prison if they use the time wisely. This is a place that time can be used to better oneself and learn about many things that can benefit your future. I have use this time to attend classes and to gain certifications that will help me succeed outside these walls. I did not let these walls hurt me or keep me back they have benefitted me.
Selling Toilets– How can you evaluate the strategies you currently use whether in finance or personal growth or other areas of life and decide when it is time to pivot toward a higer potential? Once released I am going to go back to the career I did before I was incarcerated. I am doing that because it is what I know and I was successful at it before. However if I do see a different path I can take to advance my growth I would change. Because if my past I dont want to deviate too much from what I know. As time goes by and I see the opportunties for me then I could possibly see the chance to pivot to ther areas.
