In what ways has your attitude influenced your response to a difficult situation? Being in a place like this I have seen how many personalities are in here. I have always had a good attitude towards most things not letting my anger overpower me. Many times I have seen how people deal with certain things because they have a bad attitude and most of the times the situation does not come out well. I have learned by seeing all of this to have a good attitude and communicate well with others and that has gotten me out of difficult situations and even having others come to me for guidance.
Provide an example of how a good attitude helped you overcome a problem? When I received my 20 year sentence I thought my life was over and I did not know what to expect. I knew coming to a place like this the attitude is not going to be good and positive as the negative feelings will always be there. I knew I had to keep a good attitude to overcome my situation so I can be successful in here so it can help me for my future. To do that I have to keep a good attitude all the time.
Provide an example of how you’ve seen a bad attitude aggravate a problematic situation? There are so many things in here that can lead to bad things. I’ve seen card games go wrong, I’ve seen problems over verbal disputes that turn violent. Unfortunately many of those things can be resolved if they have a good attitude and not let the bad attitude work out their problems.
Think of an objective way to gauge weather you have a positive attitude? I think the objective way to have a positive attitude is how much you accomplish and the way you do it.
How would those who knew you best describe you attitude about the predicament you’re in now? I think those who knew me were worried about the situation I put myself in. I don’t know if they knew about my attitude but I’m sure they had their thoughts on it. I did not want to let them down so I wanted to show them that I can hold a positive attitude in here the whole time and to keep having a positive attitude and to keep building on that even once I am released.
