Journal Entry

To accelerate my financial ability I am going to take 200k+ and leverage it into a property that will produce positive cash flow as an asset and produce income as a facility that provides a job for myself and others. The beauty of this plan is that it also serves to provide a solution for a need we have in the community so it will be eligible for funding, grants, and donations. I have a goal and can visually see how if put together right my vision could begin to look like a franchise opportunity overtime. Maslow, a Theorist/Psychologist, wrote of a hierarchy of needs stating that in order for a person to live properly in society you must have basic needs, a since of belonging, self actualization, and love. When we look at reentry for prison populations and wonder why recidivism is so high it’s because we are failing at producing this to all felons from the bottom to the top. There are some programs in place that could currently be tweaked that can help, however transitional housing and reentry programs as a whole might need to be scrapped and given a whole new format just like the FBOP needs to do with there administration. Usually if a system has worked in the past, you don’t change the system when there is failure, you change the people. I have an intrinsic value in getting out and never coming back. Along with wanting to succeed financially and using the knowledge I have acquired going through reentry process and failed rehabilitation, I know that I have something to offer other inmates that are serious about doing something different with their lives. I know basic needs that are not met. I know obstacles that have to be overcome. I know because I have failed in the past and know what is truly not provided. Hopefully when I get out my voice can be heard and it makes a difference. But until then I am going to keep planning, visualizing, and showing gratitude for what the future already holds for me.
