Its so hard for me to sit quiet on so many issues that I see within the FBOP that I as a tax payer pay for and as a human see need addressed as a humanitarian issue.
First and foremost I believe with the amount of people needing care for chronic issues that we should have a full hospital unit for a doctor in every area needed to address the issues reguarding human health. That way we as tax payers don’t have to pay out for these expensive contracted outside providers and or outside care. Which takes away from the FBOP staff on the campus when this is to be had.
This issue also reduces the deaths in the FBOP as shortly before I arrived in Waseca the death of an inmate occured due to the unit manager insisting she be brought back and the emergency heart value replacement be delayed. Which resulted in the death of her.. on the day hours before he surgery.
The other issues with medical are the temporary fillings needed. That only get filled when they become and emergency. I’ve been in FBOP care for now 26 months with no dental and only been see for emergency fillings that we’re luckily taken care of and did not result in a removal of the tooth as the dentist here I will say DOES do good work. As i’ve noted to the FBOP more like DR Wong should be hired.
Many patients like myself are waiting years for a simple cleaning which without proper access to the essential care we’re alledgely entitled to such as cleaning for preventative matters leads to the emergency sick call appointments that push the list back for the work such as cleanings. Why not take care of the problem before it becomes a bigger one? Why not fill the cavities with a better soulution to avoid another unwarranted visit which would help reduce the wait list for the aformentioned.
Many women here are waiting so long before they get their dentures. This process is unfair as these are essential tools for daily activites such as eating. When we were on the lock down a few months ago for the rampant drug issue that had only got worse as the higher ups ignored it – they shut down commissary and left patients with no access to buying dental glue. How cruel could you be to do that to someone?
The higher ups on the drug issue knew of the drugs and continued to let it happen. Waiting months and endangering the inmate population and their own employees. Think of all of the forces used to bring us women into prison for drugs yet when in prison they turn their heads? Scandelous.
When America is ready for a prison reform I have the grievances to address it head on. Or will you turn your head like the FBOP staff? The staff talk too and this prison walls have ears… their mine.
