Shortly I will be leaving prison. I will be leaving behind a piece of me and I cannot say its as easy as it seems. The women I leave here have a piece of my heart and forever will.
Today I was abused again by the “chief psychologist” in FCI Waseca. I encourage the public to bring awareness to the fact that we do not get the mental health care we so desperately need and are being abused by this particular provider.
The classes we are in to be provided for in a “cluster setting” due to inadquate staffing to provide this essential care shows to be in effective when talking to the patients… us in custody. We are not able to have the one on one care we need in order to address our mental health concerns.
Today myself and 9 other inmates were “kicked out” of our FSA class due to stating the opinion we are not recieving the care we need by a provider who has REFUSED to work with the inmate population and spends her time in her office talking on the phone and with our counselor in her office.
She told me what I was speaking of was not what I needed to be.. when it was… for me…
She told another inmate who referred me to the education director for support and care/resources to “get out” calling her disrespectful for voicing she wasnt getting the care she needed by psychology and this is where she has found the care/support.
She then has another transgender inmate uncomfortable to be in class due to her reference to this person is not a person which was also what made another transgender inmate in the class uncomfortable and unable to share.
Then threatned to mark one who needed to step out as unexcused when they wanted to escape the abuse and judgement the whole class was subjected to from the start.
We were told we were unable to comprehend the material however expressed criminal thinking/thinking errors/behavior errors we’ve been taught in her behavior to then be thrown all out of class.. to be told this class didnt count.. because she was upset we questioned maybe its not we are unable to understand the material but the facilitator who doesnt understand how to communicate with us… who are just trying.. to make it..
She then threw out the inmate kicked out again when she asked for an escort as the captain told her to get back into class.. she said she wasnt leaving her TREATMENT… she then stated this is why people at FCI Waseca commit suicide.. as I’ve witnessed to be the care for reason since the death of inmate Jessica Wallingbull last Feb..
Other Co’s and staff were called to arrive to find the group of us.. abused and crying.. PTSD triggered.. in panic attacks in the corner ..with another provider who was supposed to facilitate the class coming out of her session to question the ethics of the so called “chief of psychology”..
Upon speaking to my other NP Jennifer Scales as a mandated reporter she advised me to report this to higher levels at this facility..
I reported this to Counselor Buttel.. and The LT was a witness to the Distress from the psychological abuse over 7 hours later I was experiencing while crying about the abuse. This counslor was able to detect the issue being the one who abused the 10 .. who are already abused.. trying to heal from trauma and seek help…
I am pleading for whomever reads to please advocate for adequate mental health care at this facility. As the counselor Buttel said.. I will have the privilage to get REAL help that I need in less than two weeks.. and thanked me for speaking out and sharing my story to bring the attention to the fact I was abused today by some who will spend life behind these gates and need adequate care NOW.
When the psychologist who questioned us asked what was wrong I said I needed therapy after alledged therapy.. As my mother said… “something” is wrong here..
If you cannot work with someone and as Buttel said.. talk to them properly, you shouldn’t be employed in a position where lives depend on this.
With the counslor also stating we shouldnt be penalized for expressing ourselves in the way we need to or are trying to and degraded for our feedback on the material we’re speaking on.
I spoke out to this psychologist that I’ve wrote plenty of 8’s/grievances on telling her I would be writing an 8 with the rest of the class as we all are in reguards to this abuse as she was inappropriate in addressing and treating us today. Would you pay for this from a provider or believe it to be normal if this was you who was being treated like this in or out of the FBOP? She told us we were disrespectful yet she did nothing but disrespect us all and sent away an inmate who has been dealing with sucidal thoughts after they discontinuted her psych medication this past week.
She sent away a suicidal inmate and I witnessed it. Just like I witnessed her turning away the inmate Jessica Wallingbull who committed suicide.
Thank you Mr Santo’s for you awknowledgement of the issues we are facing that are going unadressed. I will be leaving behind many women I provide services to and I do not feel good about it and cannot leave in good faith without speaking out about this.
Thank you mommy.. for your Clinical opinion tonight and support. I will make you proud..
