The Director of the BOP announced changes to the implementation of the First Step Act Good Time Credits. he basically says that inmates can use all of the good time credits they earn along with another 12 months for the second chance ACT. before inmates could only max out at 3 years now it is unlimited. if you earn it you can use it. That only applies to inmates who are eligible. Back in 2018 Congress in order to get the bill passed blocked several offenses from participating in this act in what is called the “great compromise”. Because I have a weapons charge I am ineligible, otherwise I would have over 4 years to cash in for early release. It does not feel fair but it is God’s will and all in his plan. So although I am not receiving anything for my programming I will continue to do it for self-growth.
