Journal Entry: Laurie Ann Maxey-09/02/2024-Health and Hope In Prison

Journal Entry

My aim is to create a well rounded life so I have spent many years learning what that means to me. To the extent that I am able to inside of these walls I have worked on my health by working out and trying to refrain from over-eating tons of candy and cakes. I drink plenty of water and take daily vitamins as part of my health regimen. To prep myself for future success outside of these walls, I have taken every educational/VT program that I was able to. In my cell, I only read fictional books. Something that is going to educate me in some way. I am very strict on that!! And I’m a low-key nerd so I love learning. I only wish I would have discovered that part of me long ago….but it is never too late. This morning I “woke up”, gave God some praises for allowing that to happen. I thanked him for good health and a stable mind and spent some time listening to some Christian music. It seems to uplift my spirit and fortify my mind for the day ahead. I am constantly working on building good, solid, healthy relationships and reflecting on everything at the end of the day through quite time and meditation. I practice all of these things daily. Most days I feel like a whole new person. A better person. It feels wonderful.
