Week of December 23, 2024
Monday, December 23:
The week began with the Houghton and Meadow Willow Shortline Thermo project. I arrived at 7:00 AM along with Sean, Gary, and Anthony. We immediately got to work, setting up the hand liners and Premelter truck. The project proceeded smoothly throughout the morning, and by the time we broke for lunch, we were ahead of schedule. It was an efficient start to the week, and I was impressed by how well the team coordinated, especially considering the challenging conditions of the shortline.
Meanwhile, Dillion, Oso, and Matt were focused on the Safford School restriping project. From what I gathered, they were also making good progress, completing a large section of their assigned area. It’s always rewarding to see multiple teams performing at a high level and accomplishing a lot in a single day.
Tuesday, December 24:
With Christmas Eve here, we took the day off to rest and recharge. It was nice to take a breather before the holiday festivities kicked in. I spent time with family, but I made sure to check in with the team, ensuring everything was set for the rest of the week. A small but necessary step to stay connected during the holiday break.
Wednesday, December 25:
Christmas Day was a much-needed full day off. I took it easy and enjoyed quality time with loved ones. These moments of rest and reflection are valuable not just for relaxation but for resetting before jumping back into the workweek. I’m grateful for the time to recharge and be present.
Thursday, December 26:
The day after Christmas was designated as a “Play Day” for the team, giving everyone a chance to unwind. I took advantage of this low-key day to catch up on personal tasks and soak in the relaxed holiday atmosphere. It was a well-deserved break for the team, and I could see how it lifted everyone’s spirits, which will certainly help us push through the final stretch of the week.
Friday, December 27:
With Anthony off today, the rest of the team—Sean, Gary, Dillion, Oso, Matt, and I—came together to discuss the plan for the day. While we’re still finalizing some of the project details, everyone is optimistic about finishing the week strong. I’m eager to get back to work and wrap things up successfully. I’m proud of how well we’ve been able to stay productive despite the holiday disruptions.
Saturday, December 28:
I spent the morning working on shelving for the box truck to improve organization. This will help streamline operations on future jobs by making tools and equipment easier to access and locate. It’s a small but necessary task that will pay off in the long run by increasing efficiency on-site.
Reflection on the Week:
Despite the holiday breaks, it’s been a productive and rewarding week. I’m proud of the work we’ve done and the way the team has come together, especially after time off. With a few days left to close out the week, I feel confident that we’ll finish strong and head into the new year ready for whatever challenges come our way in 2025.
