Journal Entry: Week of 12/2/2024
This week, I had the privilege of furthering my skills at Empire CAT in Eloy, Arizona, where I completed the Motor Grader Certification. The experience was not just about gaining another certification; it was about deepening my understanding and appreciation for the craft of heavy equipment operation.
I was fortunate to attend one of Empire’s hands-on classes, which are considered highly coveted and unique opportunities in the industry. The training was led by some of the best in the business, and I was constantly amazed by the depth of knowledge and expertise that was shared. I was especially grateful for the personalized attention to detail and safety that instructors like Matt P., Scott M., and Derrit H. instilled in us throughout the course. Their commitment to ensuring we not only understand the technical aspects of operating these machines but also the critical importance of safety in every aspect of the job was evident in every lesson.
I also cannot forget Ron M. and the entire Empire team, who have given me their time, wisdom, and guidance. Their dedication to helping me become the best operator I can be has been nothing short of inspiring. From the classroom to the field, I had the privilege of learning from men who are masters of their craft, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to work alongside them.
The one-on-one time spent both on and off the site has been invaluable in shaping my journey as a heavy equipment operator. I am so grateful for the support, encouragement, and mentorship I’ve received from each of them. Their patience and willingness to help me succeed have made all the difference in my training and development.
While I’m proud to have earned this certification, there is a part of me that feels a sense of anticipation, as I look forward to what lies ahead. I’m excited to continue learning and growing in this field, and I can’t wait to work alongside these incredible men again in the future. I’ve come to see them not just as instructors but as mentors and friends. The road ahead may be long, but with the guidance and support I’ve received, I’m more confident than ever in my ability to succeed.
For that, I am forever thankful.
