Summary of Activities
This past week has been exceptionally busy with various tasks spread across multiple locations. My work primarily involved power washing at two different Mister Car Wash locations: one off Kino in Tucson and the other in Sahuarita. The power washing schedule was demanding, starting at 5 PM and concluding at 2 AM on Monday, and resuming at 5pm Tuesday and ending at 4 AM.
For the remainder of the week, from Wednesday through Friday, our crew was engaged in shortline thermo striping in Maricopa. Our days began at 6 AM and wrapped up around 6 PM. The intense Arizona heat posed a significant challenge, especially for my crew who had to work in the back of the truck where the ovens melt the thermal paint at approximately 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The combination of the open cab and the relentless Arizona sun exacerbated the conditions, making it a tough week for all involved.
Reflections and Acknowledgments
I am grateful for my Class A CDL and driving skills, which allow me to operate the enclosed cab with air conditioning. This has given me a newfound appreciation for my colleagues who work in far more grueling conditions. I would like to commend the dedication and resilience of my crew mates: Sean, Regie, Mouse, Ryan, Cole, and Anthony. They have displayed exceptional skill and hard work, making significant contributions to the safety and functionality of our roads. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I hold them in the highest regard.
Personal Insights
Working under such demanding conditions has provided me with a deeper understanding of the effort required to maintain our infrastructure. It has been a humbling experience, realizing the extent of teamwork and hard labor involved.
On weekends, I continue to assist with bus maintenance at BeeLine Transportation. The cumulative fatigue from juggling multiple jobs has made me reconsider my workload. I am contemplating reducing my commitments to focus more on my studies and regain some personal time during weekends.
Conclusion
This week has been a blend of rigorous work and valuable learning. I appreciate the support and dedication of my team and look forward to sharing more insights in future journal entries.
