Journal Entry: John Hopkins-04/26/2025-The Work That Matters

Journal Entry

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of work that really matters.
Not just the work I do with my hands, but more what is my modus operandi. (Mode of operation)

Life has a way of testing me.
It doesn’t always show up in ways you expect,
and doesnt give you the instructions ahead of time.

Along the way, I’ve made my mistakes,
trusting the wrong things,
moving too fast,
sometimes trying to fix things the wrong way.

But real growth doesn’t come from wishing the past was different for me.
It comes from looking forward,
what kind of person you’ll be when things are more difficult?

I’m committed to that kind of work, the daily work of being a little stronger,
a little wiser,
a little more grounded than the day before.

The spirit of being alive and living is in growing and pursuing. I think to myself often, If you’re not growing, you’re dying.
It’s a daily pursuit.
