I really suck at taxes, it is such a strain on me. I don’t think in detail when it comes to these things. I think more in principle. So taxes are always a strain for me. I had the advantage of accountants that covered me and my business, bookkeepers that put all the expenses where they should go and I was always in awe. At one time I told my accountant I was amazed at what she was doing. She told me, “your job is to make a mess, make money, earn it, my job is to account and put all of it in the right category.” As reassuring as this was years ago, I failed to realize the impact that I wasn’t learning anything about running my business, I was only in the first step of establishing business, selling the business, doing the work, and thinking I was making money. She did a great job other than not educating me and now I’m close to 50 and realizing how I’ve absolutely ignored something that was so important. Today’s been a good day but I know I’m uphill on the taxes and looking for an accountant because it’s a little late in the spring to learn the whole system and account for all these numbers. Lol. It’s a terrible time to look for an accountant. They have plenty of mess makers that they’re cleaning up right now! Once this tax season is over, I must get a system that I am independent and capable of producing calmly a proper tax return. I have to stop this cycle of madness. It’s not that I don’t want to depend on somebody else, but when I realize I have no one to depend on it’s an issue. Things like this are things that I need to solve in life!!! John , I’m talking to you!! Get it prioritized on the list and deal with it. Do the work right the first time, make the effort and you won’t be journaling about it again! Reduce your distractions so you can focus on more important things.
