You wouldn’t know I was in prison by looking or tasting the 3 course meal we just had celebrating Purim.

The 1st course came in a plastic container with servings of cold salmon, gefilte fish and my favorite sweet horseradish.

All of that with a challah roll plus coleslaw and cold cucumber salad with onions was served.

All of it was amazing. In fact, I asked the marchar sitting to my right if he was going to eat his horseradish, and he said no and gave me his container. It was all delish!

The 2nd course was another container. This time with a chicken drumstick, a chicken breast, sweet carrots, barley, kugel, and amazingly tender brisket. It was served hot so need to microwave anything.

The 3rd course was a bag of 8 hamentashen with raspberry filling. I’m saving them to have tomorrow with my coffee.

The Rabbi arrived at 3:20pm for services and shared that the dinner almost didn’t happen. So happy we all can come together for times like these!

At 4pm, we had a Jewish 3-piece band with 2 singers. 13 volunteers showed up to perform for Purim.

About 20 of the 34 Jewish campers came to the celebration, and we all danced as if we were at a Jewish wedding. It was great to dance with a bunch of my favorite guys.

So happy to experience this.

I was told yesterday fasting for Purim is optional, but I decided to take on another new challenge. I worked in the morning, then attended an FSA Health class I needed to take, then attended 3:20pm services, then walked for 3 miles and then played tennis for 90 minutes. So, overall a great day. Happy Purim from Otisville!
