It’s official! I decided to purchase a tablet which was highly recommended no matter how long or short my stay. Not hearing one Bruce Springsteen song for 6 weeks had been hard. A fellow camper highly suggested getting the tablet as it would help pass the time even quicker and add a lot more fun to my routine.
The tablet also comes with movie titles around 30 to choose from. Two of the titles caught my attention.
Being able to download music of my choice sounded like the perfect medicine after my first 32 days in Otisville.The only way I had been able to hear any music was with a small handheld am/fm receiver that had 3 good music stations (no classic rock) along with the 3 tv stations in the cafeteria.
This was a big decision because purchasing a tablet meant purchasing snacks or other food items was not possible for that week. It also meant managing my eating for 2-3 weeks out.
After purchasing Bruce’s Land of Hope and Dreams (the live version from MSG), the tablet needed a full 24 hours before it would download, so I went back to my bunk with no songs to listen to. Bummer!
Next day, the song downloaded, and decided to roll the dice and purchase another Bruce song, Prove It All Night, the live version from MSG, and guess what, the same thing. So, off to my bunk I went and I listened to LOHAD 3x. It was awesome. What a feeling! Just to hear Bruce sing those incredible lyrics directly to me was nothing else I felt before.
Next day, I mix it up and go after a few other artists and pray they will download immediately.
Well, SUCCESS!
