Welcome to Tallahassee FCI…where you can’t get a zoom court yet they will pay $10,000 in transfer fees to take you 6 counties over to get time served. Yes, a 13 hour drive with 2 cars in the transport, 4 officers, to drive from Leon county to Palm Beach county to give a individual 23 days time served, for a clearly minor infraction. Then a private het back for the same inmate. This is how your taxpayer dollars are spent. There are 6 “doctors” here yet not 1 provides medical care, dental care, or psychiatric care, though 90% of the population are on psych meds, offered up by the over worked, underpaid nurse practitioner. None of these specialists offer any sort of significant input anywhere that the regular population can see, yet transgender care is clearly a top priority as that is the only time I see any of these counselors. Although Tallahassee claims the most programs and have gotten clearly many many thousands in funding, they have no teachers to teach the classes, and can’t even keep a GED teacher half the time. The national menu isn’t followed due to them suspiciously never having enough food or money to buy the food, truly this place has struggled to put basic menu items together and in all the time I’ve been here, well over a year, they have yet to ever have a complete menu with every item. There was talk of the last kitchen sup embezzling yet clearly not much has changed. This is not only a money pit it is a complete waste of taxpayer money, with the only serious consistency being putting people on the MAT program, suboxone program, or transgender’s care …all promoted to a level that truly seems sick. There are 2 cases that I know of right now of men that have sick child crimes that are now in the women’s facility, one getting facial surgery, (Anna Gray) the other has had a total sex change (Robert Brown). Both ARE STILL PREDATORS even here. That is what is happening inside these walls. Drugs are being caught coming through visitation and those same individuals are getting to still have more visits not even a year later, and getting caught again… this is craziness. There are overdoses every day and for all the individuals on MAT and suboxone I believe there are more OD’s now then ever before. Taxpayer money could is being giving to incentivize rehab here, yet they seem to run out when it come to allocating it to those of us in the programs offered. These programs are left wanting in many ways, and seem more toxic and abusive then I’ve ever seen. There is a sickness in this prison, a fundamental breakdown in culture here from the staff that has made this by far the worst female prison in America. Worse than Dublin FCI by far. I was there. This place is like nothing I have ever ever seen before, there are no case managers to the point they give you ones that aren’t even on the compound just so you have a name in front of yours, yet they are completely unreachable and of no help whatsoever.
