Becoming the CEO of Your Life: Lessons from the Greats

Dear readers,

The journey to prison reform is a dual path. While many of us, including myself, tirelessly work towards changing laws and advocating for a more just system, there’s an equally crucial role that individuals in prison must play. It’s the role of personal transformation.

It’s easy to look outward and hope for systemic changes, but true reform starts from within. Just as I am committed to advocating for change on a larger scale, I urge each of you to commit to changing yourselves. Building an extraordinary and compelling record while incarcerated is not just about proving oneself to the outside world; it’s about proving to oneself that change is possible.

Our course, “Preparing for Success after Prison,” and our many books, including on crafting effective release plans, are designed to be your guideposts on this transformative journey. They provide actionable steps and strategies to help you navigate the challenges and prepare for a successful reentry.

The principles we offer in our Straight-A Guide aren’t just abstract concepts; they’re the very principles that business magnates like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk have employed to build their empires. These leaders envisioned a future, set clear goals, and worked relentlessly towards them, facing countless setbacks along the way. They were, in essence, the CEOs of their lives.

You, too, can adopt this CEO mindset. Start by envisioning the life you want post-incarceration. Set clear, measurable goals. Surround yourself with positive influences and continuously educate yourself. Take responsibility for your actions, learn from your mistakes, and relentlessly pursue your vision.

Remember, every great company started with a vision and a commitment to see it through, regardless of the challenges. Your life is no different. Think of yourself as the CEO of your life, and your time in prison as the foundational phase of your company. Use this time wisely, invest in yourself, and build a life that you’re proud of.

To those committed to this journey of self-improvement and transformation, know that you’re not alone. We at Prison Professors are here to support, guide, and inspire you every step of the way.

With unwavering belief in your potential,

Michael Santos,
