Journal Entry: Eduardo Luis Valdes-07/09/2024-Day 1028

Journal Entry

Today was a simple yet restful day. I was able to get to work in the Chapel, get done what was needed, labeling some videos we were given and placing them in our inventory.
On my way to lunch as I was wheeling Mr. Rivero, another inmate asks that I help him translate something to the officer in charge as he wasn’t feeling well. After lunch on our way back to the unit, I drop off Mr.. Rivero and help the other gentleman with his concerns with Medical and at 12 I head to Psychology for the last day of my “Maintaining My Recovery” course. Luckily it was just to turn in our booklets and I head back to the unit and decide to take a well needed nap.

Ear plugs in, shade up, I was able to rest until 4pm count, thank God.

Up and about after count, I put my shoes on and headed to the phones, had a nice talk with my dad, then went to get Mr. Rivero ready for dinner but when I get to his room, he was already finishing up prepping a meal for the both of us, so he tells me to grab a seat and we talked for a few minutes while the food heated up.

I was so happy and grateful for that meal, being the food in the dining room was not great according to others.

I cleaned up, thanked him for the food, and headed to the Chapel for week 2 of the program “ALPHA”, and the topic today was “Who is Jesus”.

I have come a long way since I first started my relationship with God and have learned so much, and today the video we saw was very precise on many facts that we tend to ask ourselves if they are true or not. I plan that this will build my faith even more by the time it is over, I can’t wait!

The night is ending, I have my tea ready and it sits in front of me as I type. I spoke with my mom, mima and Ozzie (step-dad), went and had a nice shower after several days of not having hot water and here I am. It’s almost time to lock in, and enjoy the next two days off of work, even though at times I rather be in the Chapel than anywhere else.

Goodnight.
