Journal Entry: Eduardo Luis Valdes-06/15/2024-33 Months In

Journal Entry

Saturday Morning, up early, plastic N-RDAP (Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program) mug in hand with my hot black tea, heading to the Chapel to turn on the lights for the Jewish Service. Everything went smoothly, it’s always a good day when I spend time in the Chapel with the Chaplains I work with/for. It’s tough to believe I have been incarcerated for 33 months already, when I used to tell myself and others “There is no way I will ever go to prison, I am not a bad person”. Here I am and once again, I will say, this has been part blessing as it has given me time to think and allow myself the chance to grow as a person, humble myself and prepare myself for a better future with all the good I have learned while being here. As the day wound down, I went to recreation for 2 hours. I played 1hour of doubles racquetball then walked the track for another hour with a buddy from Christian services and listened to him and tried to console him over a few concerns he is having about what life will be like when he goes home next year. I returned to the dorm at 8, showered, had a snack, wrote a ‘cop-out’ for another inmate, and here I am, successfully and positively completing one day at a time. Now, to go sit and watch game 4 of the NHL Stanley Cup. GO FLORIDA PANTHERS!!!!!!
