“(19) My dear brothers, take not of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, (20) for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (21) Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”
NIV Bible: James 1:19-21
Ever since entering prison, one of the main things my dad tells me is, “be humble”, “be patient”, and this verse I cited plays a big part in that, as it was a part of our Christian Bible study today and it can well be used amongst all of us to be better humans. Being incarcerated has helped me slow down, learn to be humble, and most definitely build patience. By living my life according to the words we come across in the Bible, I know I could live a honest, humble lifestyle after my release. Following the word of God has allowed me to also help others here who have come across certain situations where they might end up causing a problem for themselves. I’m thankful for all the has happened for me since being incarcerated and hope I can continue being a role model for others and continue helping where I am able to. Later this evening I assisted in the chapel for the Jewish Shavuot holiday service, and was back in the dorm in time to call home, shower, complete this journal and rush to my room for lockdown. Tomorrow is another day.
