Eduardo Luis Valdes-06/10/2025-Day 1364

Journal Entry

We have been locked in since the 4pm count yesterday. Not sure what is going on, whatever it is, there must be a reason for it.

I feel a tapping on my bunk; it’s my roommate letting me know breakfast trays are being handed out at the door of the Glasshouse. I usually never go to breakfast, but since the officer is yelling for everyone to grab a tray, I head over to grab my own. They served us bran cereal, apple sauce, one slice of bread, two packs of apple jelly and two packets of sweetener.

Today there was scheduled an orientation for the newcomers. Luckily I see my counselor and ask him if there will still be A&O since we are locked down; he said he would let me know. “I will be dressed and ready just in case.” I tell him.

Into the restroom, I brush my teeth, comb my hair a bit, and back to my room to get dressed into my class-A uniform.

So far, the day has been a “stay-in” and relax, kind of day. No one from our unit going anywhere. I finally received a bulk of seventeen emails today from the past week that never went through. Going to spend a few minutes reading my daily devotionals and Bible chapter of the day.

“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.”
[Jeremiah 17:7]

I was able to nap for a few hours and be up in time for lunch. They gave us a small, baked chicken breast, white rice, red beans, bread, and some lettuce. I finish, throw my tray away, and head to my chair to watch some television.

Nearing one in the afternoon, I head back to my bed and lay down, I was able to rest some more thankfully. It kind of bummed me out that I couldn’t go to work today. I had so much to get done, as the Re-Entry department has some visitors this week and I want to make sure everything is in order for Mr. Nicolas.

Count comes through, then I go to my chair to watch more television and wait for dinner. The cart is not here yet, and we are thinking we will be opened up from this lockdown, but several minutes later we spot the cart coming into the unit. The officer in our unit is walking around passing out mail room by room, then asks Tier to help him with the passing out of food trays. We wait in the Glasshouse for them to finish the main unit before they come to us.

Chaplain Hostler comes through to say hello, and is sorry we could not get out today for our Bible study groups.

We grab our trays, I grab mine and Rivero’s, I put his in his room and head to mine so I could dress up my food with some seasonings. We had a hotdog bun, one sausage, potatoes, vegetables and two packets of mustard. I follow it up with some water, grab my tablet with headphones and head to my chair to watch t.v. again and wait for a good time to shower.

Showered, relaxed, watching “Wheel of Fortune”, while also keeping up with the Los Angeles riots on Fox News on the next television. Just spoke with mom, a quick five minute call and watching “America’s Got Talent” on NBC.

Dear God, thank you for all you do. You know Lord how much I need you. Please work in me and give me the confidence that comes from you alone. Don’t ever stop building my faith in you. Please continue guiding me dear Lord. Thank you for this day and that chance to rest throughout the day. God whatever it is they have going on to have us locked in, may it be all part of a good outcome. Amen.
