Journal Entry: Eduardo Luis Valdes-04/19/2024-Day 1312

Journal Entry

Dear Eddie,

Today, Saturday April 19, 2025 has been a beautiful day.

You were able to sleep in and get up in time for count.
After count, you met up with “Bear”, who recently arrived from another prison. Him, Miles and P.K. all were part of a Christian worship group in their last prison and are urgently trying to play some instruments for the Christian services. They have truly been God sent.

The chapel was closed, and the band room at rec were closed, but you were able to have a good conversation with Bear, he was even super grateful that you lent him a pair of your sneakers, since all he has to wear are the boots that are provided by the institution which are terrible for your feet.

Aquino started early preparing the pizzas for your birthday dinner in the unit with Bon-Bon and Rivero.

It was a nice day in the unit talking with Rivero, laughing at his jokes. Rivero thanks you for cutting/removing the overgrown eyelashes that were bothering his eyes.

Remember, as it is written in [1 Timothy 4:4], “Everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with Thanksgiving”. Even in the most negative of times, there is always a positive to it. God puts us where we need to be and protects us through it all as we trust in Him and remain faithful to Him. Live your life and do things for God, not for man.

Today, you helped translate a motion that Pilar received from his new attorney. He was thankful, and even having others closer to him who could help; he was patient to await your help because he knows he could trust your word, don’t ever change.

The pizzas Aquino made, look amazing, but now it’s time to help him and clean the bowls and utensils he used.

You devoured six slices, and a Pepsi, it’s okay, you only have one birthday a year.

Bon-Bon, Rivero and Aquino sat with you in the room to enjoy the pizza’s. You also shared some slices with Bethune, Garcia, Campos, and some others near you.

You spoke to dad for a few minutes, then took a shower. Bon-Bon brought some cheesecakes that Martinez made for your birthday. The cheesecakes were great.

You ended the call with mom at the seven minute mark. The call did not end on a happy note. Unfortunately the conversation you walked away from was one with your relative, but better to walk away than have the possibility of arguing with them over a frustration you both cannot control.

Live your life “a quarter mile at a time” as Vin Diesel says in “Fast and Furious”. Don’t let what happened a few days ago cause future stressful situations.

You listened to Luke Bryan’s song, “Jesus ‘Bout My Kids” as you ended typing this. Talk to Jesus about your family, and keep Jesus close to your heart. Every day is a new day, a chance to start over and totally redeem yourself from the past.

Thank you God for the life you have given me, I want to, pray for “Pito” and his cancer diagnosis and future treatment, for those releasing soon, that they may find a path in life to keep them doing what is right, for family, friends and loved ones. Please watch over the Trump Administration, and give them the wisdom, and strength to get this country where it needs to be. Thank you Father God for all You do. Amen.
