Journal Entry: Eduardo Luis Valdes-04/07/2025-Day 1300

Journal Entry

After a nice weekend of hanging around and taking it easy, I finally took some time to rest and also spent a few hours in the Education department watching the movie, “BIG BOUNCE”.

I had a nice visit yesterday with mom, temperature in the visit room was not too bad, there was some food available for purchase in the vending machine, but all the drink machines were out of order.

I begin working tomorrow Tuesday with my new supervisor, so today, day 1300 of my incarceration, I hung out in the unit. I sit in my room to read my daily devotionals, and love how today’s word talks about God ALWAYS being with us, from birth to old age.

“You whom I have upheld since your birth….Even to your old age…I am he who will sustain you.”
[Isaiah 46:3-4]

I know I could ask God in my prayers to give me strength to get through this, I ask Him to guide me as my life goes on, and I know He does. Something I never saw before, I see now with eyes wide open.

No breakfast for me today, and was not in the mood of going to the chow hall, and neither was Rivero. I stayed in my room and Bon-Bon came by. We each had a Maruchan ramen soup. I added a mackerel to mine though, and that was my lunch for today. Right after we ate, I cleaned my bowl and lay in my bed for a nap.

Twice I woke up with a full bladder, but I was able to rest within those two hours.

I get out of bed, it’s almost count time, I change into the shorts I use in recreation and put my shoes on. Count comes around, and I head to the phone to call dad.

Right before they call for the recreation move, Escudero falls in front of the officer station with terrible pain in his right leg. He has been complaining about the thrombosis in his leg for nearly a year now but he says nothing has been done to help him. They call a medical emergency, and several officers including the captain arrive to help. They load him on a wheelchair and the nurse takes him to the medical department. A few minutes later they call the recreation move, and Escudero is being wheeled back into the unit by the nurse, and all he had were a pack of compression socks in his hands.

I get to the rec yard with Bon-Bon, Shorty, Chino and Restrepo. We head to the racquetball courts and play for two hours straight. While I waited between games, I completed several burpees, jumping jacks, and squats. Today I put on a good sweat which I really needed.

Back to the unit I go at the 7pm move. I grab my things and head to the shower. I rinse off my clothes during the shower, and once I get out, I put them in laundry bags, as tomorrow is our laundry day. I sit down with a pack of salmon and saltine crackers, and that is my dinner for today.

Almost that time to call mom; I head to the phones after washing my bowl.

The evening is over for me, time for some news television, then “Gutfeld” on Fox News. Tomorrow is commissary, and my first day starting in the Re-entry department.

Dear God, at times I feel down, and tired, please Father give me strength I need to get through these times, I ask that You sustain me and carry me; guide me until my last day on earth oh God. Please take care of me, keep me healthy, and put me where you need me to be. I pray for my family, friends and loved ones. I pray for President Trump and his administration, that you protect them and give them the strength and wisdom they need to continue putting this country back together. Amen.
