1) Based on Michael Santos’s recommendation, I started keeping a daily log of my exercises & then tabulating them at the end of the month. For the month of May, I did:
4,575 sit-ups
3,675 push-ups
234 pull-ups
675 squats
Walked 18 miles on the outside track.
2) I am taking a class here called Threshhold to prepare us for when we get out of prison. I went ahead today (I had the time) and completed the homework that takes me through to the end of the month.
3) I finished a book called Dirt: The End of Civilizations, but have yet to do the book report. I am nearly completed with the “Study Guide to the Bible,” although I will not do a book report on it. I have been reading it since February. I just started reading “East of Eden” this morning by John Steinbeck. To be honest, I was getting a bit burned out on reading, but I seem to have gotten a second wind.
4) Since Gino, my current cellmate, is from Peru – we started studying Spanish now that my Spanish 2 class is over. I need to ramp that up a bit, but at least we are doing a few words per night in the dark after “lights out.”
5) I still rarely swear, so I consider that aspect of my goals to be achieved.
6) I still have not played any cards or board games. I watched about an hour of TV on Memorial Day because it was my favorite show on (Hacksaw Ridge) so I watched the end of it. I do take the liberty of downloading 1-2 videos per month or watching 1-2 videos in the chapel as a treat for reaching a goal or to get a couple guys together for something fun & interesting.
I will no longer comment on swearing or games/TV as I feel those goals are behind me and I now need to focus on something else. I am still thinking what that might be.
All in all, my goals for my time in prison are still moving along.
Sincerely,
Dennis Zeedyk
