Journal Entry

I watched the latest Batman movie last night. In his bat cave where he has his car, motorcycle and computers — there are bats flying everywhere. That is totally unrealistic because there would simultaneously be bat poop (guano) everywhere. I will never be able to watch another moving given the falsehoods pushed upon us by Hollywood. This was the last straw! 🙂

Here is some 3rd grade humor: Some of the inmates like to walk by the C.O.’s and release a fart. They call it cropdusting.

Was walking to work this morning with a guy who lives in my unit and works with me. On the way there, he mentioned that one of his baby-mamas died. I asked if it was unexpected. He said yes. He just found out this morning. That is one of my biggest fears – that someone close to me will die while I am inside.

I normally go to the 1:00 church on Sunday, but several people said I should go to the 2:00 church that is the Hispanic version. I went and really enjoyed it. Didn’t understand much, but loved the energy! I think they really appreciated having a gringo attend their service.

There is a really bad stomach virus going around – one of the bad ones where it comes out of both ends at the same time. I could tell it was bad when I saw how many sick people were being prayed for at the Hispanic service. So far, I am healthy – everytime I return to the unit I immediately go wash my hands with soap & hot water. Will do the same thing as soon as I walk away from this computer.

One of the most annoying things about prison is the controlled moves. I finish my work shift at 2:30 and had plans to do some stuff at the library, send out some emails, make some copies, drop off a book, etc. For some reason or another, we could not move at 2:30 & it got pushed to 3:30. THat doesn’t help me because the library closes at 3:30 – so I had to adjust my plans accordingly. They shut off the computers and phones from 3:30-4:30, so couldn’t do that either. One thing you learn in prison is to focus on the things you can control and be as flexible as possible.
