Since I’ve been in custody, I’ve adapted a routine of exercise, yoga and meditation. For the first time in my life I feel WHOLE. While I was in the world I aspired to have a regular routine, but unfortunately I was heavily addicted to alcohol and drugs. When I got arrested I had one of two choices; I could succumb to pharmaceuticals and being heavily sedated with sleeping and anxiety meds while being extremely lethargic and miserable OR I could find a healthy routine. One that would change not only my physical state, but my mental state as well. I found yoga, HIIT routines, weight training, and Pilates and fell in love. I’ve become a different person inside and out and I am so grateful for that. While being in custody is not IDEAL, I’ve decided to make choices in here that are creating a new me and bettering myself in every way possible which is the biggest blessing. I am able to face every challenge that comes my way and push through things that seem impossible. I have more confidence and self-worth than I’ve ever had in my life. That is a beautiful thing.
