Journal Entry

I was reading an email by Michael Santos about ideas he has of incentives for those who journal the most. I think it is a great approach to incentivize men and women to grow, something the BOP has needed to do for the longest. Although I think we should be incentivized enough with the knowledge that we are bettering ourselves and preparing ourselves for successful Reentry into society.

Sometimes reading stuff like rewarding those who post the most, leaves a wrenching in the hearts of those who are not financially situated enough to afford that luxury. Trulinks do not come easily for many of us, as we have no outside support and cannot afford to spend hours a day on the computer, or even hours a week in many cases.

I would like to remind all those who read these pages that it is better to look for the quality rather than the quantity in your searches and readings. Many of the public are ignorant to the processes that we have to go through in order to post, i.e..: not on extended lockdowns due to being at rowdier facilities; having to get money to purchase trulinks to be able to read/write emails; and many other factors that determine an inmates’ ability to post more often.

How often someone is able to journal online is not indicative of their progress and rehabilitation, nor their sincerity. Support all those who have taken the initiative, rather they were able to take one step, or 100 steps in the right direction, at least they took the step.
