Journal Entry: Dana McIntyre-11/16/2023

Journal Entry

Today is medical day, (2) MRIs on my back, a CT scan for my upcoming hip replacement, an EKG  and blood work.  In compliance with my plea agreement, I will sell my home to satisfy my responsibilities. The good news is that by the time of my surrender 90% of the restitution will be paid.  I plan to return to this small Vermont community once I complete my sentence and pick up right where I left off.

I have identified several post-conviction income sources with the help of a very understanding and forgiving community and will be fine tuning this plan over the next several weeks.  People in this small town of 600 has accepted me as one of their own. I relocated here from the Boston area in 2020.  I think that is because many have gotten to know me and understand the attributes that make up the person I am and they see me outside of my crime.

Yesterday, I filed a motion to extend my surrender date from January 5, 2024 to April 5, 2024. The reason for the motion is a scheduled full right hip replacement 37 days before my original surrender date.  I was naïve to think I would receive adequate care at the Camp I’m assigned to. I’m grateful to those who pass along their experiences in the Master Classes, this has been very helpful as I continue to navigate this journey.  The forms and guidance on Mitigation arc made it straightforward and relatively simple to file Pro Se.  I also submitted my Release Plan and it is now available online.   I’m looking forward to updating my release and reentry plan on a rolling basis and sharing my progress.
