11/15/2023 Wednesday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 67 degrees F. Started walking at 6:20 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:10 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, roll, punch and an apple.

Completed first three miles in 40 minutes and 37 seconds. Final three miles was completed in 37 minutes and 13 seconds. Average walk times were: First three miles was 13 minutes 19 seconds per mile or 2 minutes 14 seconds per lap. Final Three miles was 12 minutes 11 seconds per mile (milla) or 2 minutes 4 seconds per lap (vuelta). The morning started out cold with overcast sky. Part of the dawn sky was nice but most of the sky was clouded. Finished walking 6 miles at 7:40 AM. Stretched and split stretched at the basketball court until 8:20 AM. Went to sewing room to check on the charger for the electric cutter. There was only one set of battery, it will work but it is not sharp enough to cut through pants or thick material. I will let it charge up and try again. Hemmed a dozen of pants and prepared a inventory request for the Laundry room. Back to the unit at 9:10 AM. Cleaned the computer room. Mr Reyes informed me that there will be a new inmate joining us today around noon. Showered at 9:30 AM. Checked email from Doris: She walked 6635 step yesterday and they had Dim Sum for Kein’s Birthday. Lunch was served at 10:20 AM. Luncheon menu: hamburger, French fries, punch and an apple. i had to attend a meeting with the Education department to explore the possibilities of education with several online colleges for incarcerated people. Meeting lasted until 11:30 AM. We will have a few more meetings to discuss this issue in the future. Talked to Doris at 10:35 AM: Doris is well and so is Patches. They were busy harvesting: Persimmons, figs and apples. I told Patches if she wanted to, she could dry the excess fruits in the food dehydrator. Patches liked the Hoka Shoes from Doris. She is thinking of getting a few more pairs of Hokas before she leaves. Doris asked why I was late calling this morning, I told her I had to meet with Education Department about some degreed courses offered to inmates. They had Dim Sum for Kein’s Birthday party yesterday. Patches is trimming some of the figs tree that is overhanging over to our yard. Counselor Reyes informed me that we are supposed to have anew inmate joining us at the camp today. I went to the education room for GED tutoring but Mrs. Hubbard was on sick out. i went to the sewing room to hem some pants. Processed a new inmate t the camp at 1:00 PM. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: scrambled eggs, biscuit with gravy, punch and French fries. Continue hemming pants. I wash my laundry at 3:45 PM. ACE Parenting 4-4:30 PM. Jon took over the hemming duties while I took the ACE class and did my laundry. Finished my laundry at 4:40 PM. Washed a load of Green uniform. Went back to hemming with Jon until 5:45 PM. Only 6 More dozens left to hem we have completed 42 dozens pants. Finished all laundry at 6:00 PM. Talked to Gudgel about the electric cutter, he suggested that we hard wire the electric cutter and bypass the battery and sharpen the blades, it should resolve the electric cutter problem. I will give the cutter to him tomorrow for him to rewire it. It rained on and off from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Census count at 6:15 PM. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris and Patches are well and they are happy. Lots of fruits from them to enjoy. They celebrated Kein’s birthday party. Patches is happy with her new Hoka shoes. Walked 6 miles, and split stretched. Hemmed lots of pants.
