11/5/2023 Sunday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. I made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 78 degrees F. Started walking at 6:30 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:15 AM. Breakfast menu: Grits, apple and punch.

- Check email from Doris.

- Walk 6 miles.
- Split Stretch.
- Yoga.

- ACE Class – Customs of the world 5-5:30 PM and Psychology of Incarceration 6-6:30 PM.
I thought I got up late this morning but was on time due to daylight saving time. Completed the first five miles in 1 hour 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Final mile was completed in 11 minutes 47 seconds. Changed my shirt to dry t shirt and stretched at the basketball court in the sunlight. Average time for first five miles walk were 12 minutes and 49 seconds per mile and 2 minutes 9 seconds per lap. The final mile was 11 minutes 47 seconds per mile or 1 minute 58 seconds per lap. The walking times were good especially the final mile as I worked up a sweat. The morning walk started out in the dawn with the beautiful sky. But the sun rise was shielded by some low clouds. Did not see the orange sphere only the regular sun later in the morning. The weather was warm. Stretched in the basketball court after changing to dry t shirt. The stretch was good and completed with the split stretch. Felt great after the stretch and my mobility and range of motion has improved. The Yoga practice was nice after a week of layoff, went through most of my poses. Felt good and relaxed after the practice. Had some donuts and nutty bar after my practice. Talked to Doris at 9:45 AM: Doris is well and she was feeding the dogs. She asked why I called her so early, I told her it was actually 10:45 AM but because of daylight savings time, we moved an hour back. Thus it is 9:45 AM. She was wondering why she woke up an hour earlier. I told Doris her walking has improved a lot and she is walking instead of dragging her left foot. Even the Officers noticed the difference in her walking. She inquired how come the CO knew me and let me help her with the visitation forms. I told her most of the CO knows me as I worked with them to process new incoming inmates. I told her her walking looks natural except for her left hand, I will try to get Patches to help her with her hand and getting up and down from the couch. She will start working on my Release plan today. I told her I was going to catch up on my ACE Class reports and Spanish Lessons. the dogs were barking at the neighbor dog.
Census count at 10:00 AM. Lunch was served after the count. Luncheon menu: Toast with syrup, scrambled eggs, fries and punch. Took a nap and went to the library to work on my ACE Class Reports. Back to the unit at 3:30 PM. census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Chickens fried rice, beans, bread and punch. Went to the library to work on my ACE Class Reports between classes. ACE Class Customs of the world 5-5:30 PM and The psychology of incarceration 6-6:30 PM. Back to the unit at 7:00 PM. Census count at 7:10 PM. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris is well and feeling cheerful, she forgot about daylight savings time. She is walking better. The dogs are well. Doris completed revising my Release Plan. Walked 6 miles, split stretched and practiced Yoga. Attended ACE Classes. Completed several ACE Class Reports.
