Journal Entry: Carolynne Noffsinger-03/11/2025-ASAP- New Non-For-Profit

Journal Entry

Good morning,

Once released, I have the intention on establishing the following Non-For-Profit:

ASAP-Advocates Serving All Prisoners

Mission Statement: The Advocates Serving All Prisoners (ASAP) coalition seet to partner with local, state, and federal leadership entities to create meaningful prison reform programs and support across the United States of America.

Vision Statement: ASAP has collaborated with current and former incarcerated women to leverage their unique experiences professionally and within the prison system to suggest and enact meaningful change to the broken judicial system as it stands. We are focusing on three specific areas of prison reform:
1) Harsh, excessive sentencing guidelines
2) Lack of effective medical, mental health and substance use disorder treatment within the prison system
3) Lack of post-prison preparedness to include:
– FSA classes, which are not offered, except on paper
– Education
– Vocational resources
– Social Determinants of Health

To get assistance in our mission to help those who are currently or formerly incarcerated, we are seeking the guidance and collaboration with the following elected officials and departments of government:

– The President of the United States – Donald J Trump
– DHHS Leader – Robert F Kennedy, Jr.
– US Attorney General- Pamela Bondi
– Office of Cabinet Affairs
– Cabinet Secretary
– Office of National Drug Policy
– Department of Justice
– Committee Members of DHHS
– Members of the 119th Congress
– Senate Majority Leader
– Senate Minority Leader
– Senate Members of the Oversight Committee, Judicial, Veterans Affairs, Education

Additionally, we are reaching out to groups to seek more information to assist in our three areas of interest for prison reform such as:
– Prison Fellowship
– The Ohio Justice and Policy Center
– The Center for Prison Reform
– The ACLU
– The National Commission on Correctional Health Care

And others, as we come across them in our research.

While incarcerated, I have been doing a lot of research on how to start a non-for-profit, and meeting with most of the women I am incarcerated with, here at FMC Lexington. I have taught classes in the chapel for two months, and will be teaching an ACE class within the education department on Interviewing, Job Seeking, Resume Writing and Networking to help women in this prison have more resources and support for when they are released. I am also seeking information on resources to address their social determinants of health (housing, food, transportation) so they feel more equipped once they leave Atwood. There was recently a program started for the women here to give some resources, but the person running it doesn’t have the background, nor the resources to do so effectively. Also, this isn’t a mandatory program, so many women aren’t even aware it exists. This has been my work through Americorps for the past 3 years, and I will continue this work once I leave later this year. Additionally, I have assisted women in here with writing letters to help them with various issues, as the literacy rate within the prison is low.

If you happen to have resources, by state, for jobs, housing, food, transporation, childcare, addiction services, and social services that you could please send me, my address here at the prison is:
