Journal Entry

In response to the question of the day:

I have been a mental health companion for almost one year, learning many skills, and I have received training as a peer support specialist. I have facilitated the Preparing for Success After Prison FSA program at its onset and A Spiritual Journey Through the Shack ACE class. I have provided GED tutoring to my peers in a classroom setting and on an individual basis. I will be graduating the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) on October 25, 2024, which accumulated 500 hours of cognitive behavior therapy. I strengthened my writing skills by completing three journals per phase, I obtained assertive communication skills, and facilitated many classes within this program to include; overcoming grief, breathing and meditation, and served as chair person for a recruitment and reentry service group. I was part of a team that worked together to plan and host outreach events and acted as a liaison between mental health companion and recruitment and reentry recovery efforts. I was also chosen for leadership roles as a BIG and now as a Senior guide within the RDAP Community.
