How do your adjustment decisions relate to your prospects for success upon release?

I try to adjust my decisions for future success upon release everyday. I have created a routine or set schedule that I follow. I try to wake up each morning at 6:00am, that is when our doors get opened. I shower and get myself ready. I do this everyday weather I work or not that day. I press my uniform everyday to be presentable weather I stay in the unit, work, go to classes, or appointments. I plan my days a day in advance and mentally prepare myself for what I will do the next day. Of course, in a prison environment unforeseen things happen everyday like lockdowns but I try my best to stick to my daily routines. In this way I am making the most of my time. On days there are lockdowns I try to study a little more. I also keep a calendar and a to-do-list so I do not forget to do important tasks. I schedule time to study, read, exercise, and watch some tv. I try not to watch too much TV or meaningless programs. I try only to read books that I can learn some thing new from. I take advantage of any courses offered that will teach me something I do not already know. Especially if they are free. By doing this I have managed to take over 100 classes in many different subjects like business, psychology, crochet, drawing, painting. I have taken many computer classes like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I was even able to complete an AS in Business and and AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. This has helped me be well rounded in so many subjects. I even take classes on subjects that get me real world certificates like OSHA 501, Custodial Maintenance Certification, Forklift License, and a Pest Control Technician certification. Even though I might not see myself working in that field I take advantage to learn anything that can increase my odds for employability upon release and future success.
