I have not read very many books about release. But a book that greatly impacted my life and made me conscious to the fact that I am not alone; that the human condition is as old as time was the book East of Eden by John Steinbeck. I may never have read it if not for coming to jail. But it shows life’s struggle with family, addiction, love and loss. It basically let me know that I am not alone and in that gave me the ability to see past some of my individual issues and over come some of the hurt and problems that those issues caused in my own life.
