Journal Entry

When I read the question what are the characteristics of a leader who is inspiring my adjustment a few people come to mind. At this moment I am currently reading the book I received, Earning Freedom by Michael Santos and no doubt I will learn a lot from him and he has amazing strengths that I admire and that are very inspiring. I have not finished the book just yet so I will do a book report on that but even halfway through his resilience is quite astonishing. The characteristics I most admire is the drive and ambition in the worse of sitiuations. I am serving a 19 year sentence and am very aware of the way the system seems to put challenges in our way almost as of they do not want us to succeed so to hear from someone who has in spite of everything is inspiring. I am a bit of an indecisive woman and as much as i am a great team player and an assett to any team I have a hard time setting goals and sticking to them and not bouncing all over the place at times to new plans or ideas so I do want to learn to set clear goals and finish them. The thing that stands out the most to me besides the resilience and never backing down is the positive attitude. I have learned from many leaders and mentors since I started this journey 8 years ago that attitude is everything and keeping a positive attitude has helped me in my adjustment more than anything. I have come a long way on the last 8 years but still have a long way to go and plan on reaching out to mentors and leaders (like Michael Santos did) to help keep me focused on the changes I want to make. I believe by telling someone the changes and talking about them it will help me be held accountable for the goals I set and changes I make. So leaders right now are of course Elon Musk who is so innovative and thinks outside the box and Nelson Mandela who’s resilience and attitude are no doubt inspiring but I have to admit when I think of things like this my Mother and her strength and positive attitude and unwavering Faith are always at the top of my list. She is by far the strongest woman I know with a heart of gold who also knows how to hold her own up against the BOP or anyone who stands in her way. Her Faith never wavers even when mine does or in the darkest of times. So yes my mother Ms. Brenda Benz is at the top of my list whenit comes to leaders in my life who inspire me and my adjustment.
