Journal Entry

Above all else, we cannot give up on ourselves. I used to write to my son every month when he was going to school that the most important person we have to support ourselves is ourselves because no one is going to live our lives for us. if we want to succeed is is going to be us individually who is going to have to put in 100 percent of the work. nobody is going to walk for us, nobody is going to breathe for us, nobody is going to live our lives for us. if we want something out of life it is going to have to be us personally who is to go for it, to strive, to push through adversity, to climb the mountains in front of us to reach our goals. and as long as we don’t give up, as long as we don’t stop believing in ourselves, as long we stay on the path that will lead us to our dreams then there isn’t anything we cannot do. even in the face of failure if we can choose to learn from that and keep going to find another way, to get back up if we fall and accept the helping hand without sacrificing our pride to take the hand that is offered to us. this hand comes in many ways and I recognize the hand you are lending us to receive and answer these emails because I know it is helping me get back up from my fall from grace which is incarceration. I accept your helping hand with no sacrifice to my pride. this is my mindset to know that the opportunity to prove myself is there in front of me and not be afraid to keep going forward. I can look back at my mistakes only to learn from them and move on. I am sowing the seeds of hope.
