Book Report

My Dad also sent me this book. We’ve always shared a love of Eastern Spirituality. He’s someone that I look up too.

I connected with this book because I was really into Punk rock when I was younger. The author talked about going to concerts and how fun it was until he started to abuse narcotics. I felt like he was telling my story.

I now know that drugs flood our brains with dopamine. Our brains stop producing it on its own and then we’re not able to be happy when we do the things we enjoy.

Like going to concerts or seeing friends. We get more & more depressed. Which is what happened to me when I became suicidal.

The way he became sober was through the teaching of the Buddha. Which is basically that life is various forms of suffering. But we can overcome it & pass the test through love & self-purification.

This book really got me interested in Buddhism. It was the start of most of my spiritual growth & my Karmic understanding of life.

Noah showed me it was cool to be peaceful, loving & tolerant. It is cool to have empathy for others. It is cool to do random acts of kindness. And it is cool to make sure my life has good karma for the next reincarnation.
