Book Report

This is a book report for: the First phone call from heaven. A novel by Mitch Albom

This book was from an author that I have come to really like. Mitch Albom has some great books and this one is yet another one that I have found to be very good.

This book overall was a hear felt fictional work that was from God, by God, through God and with God as Mitch put it.

The book was about life and death, about relationships between husband, wife, and family. It was a book about community, love for country and your fellow man. It was a book that took us through several different situations and how they were handled right or wrong, it was dealing with real life and the troubles and joy it brings.

The primary character Sully was a pilot in the US Navy that was involved in a air incident, he had been drinking less than twelve hours before getting into the cockpit. The result was that he lost his F-18 Hornet and a twin engine Cessna had to make a crash landing but all on board lived.

The cockpit controller (ATC) had made a mistake and caused the midair collision, but the data in the tower was destroyed at the same time for some reason the ATC ran out of the control tower jumped in his vehicle and speed away, at the same time the pilot Sully’s wife was on the same road heading to the airfield to pick her husband up and the two vehicles collided.

Things got interesting at this point, Sully when to prison for ten months after he took a plea deal just to be back with his son Jules who was only seven years old. Sully eventually got back home and began to work and the story unfolded regarding mysterious phone calls coming to certain people in his small town and the calls were from dead people to their loving relatives.

Sully got to the bottom of it, the story was really good and like I stated before, I learned from this fictional book that Faith and belief in God is real and the grief, love and joy that we all will encounter at some point in life is all a part of the walk of life. How we all deal with grief and mourning will vary but as long as we allow the healing period to take place and embrace the living at the same time remembering and honoring the dead, we should be absolutely fine on the other end.

READ this book, it will definitely keep you glued to each page as it did to me.

Thank you,
