The book that I am reporting on is:
“The Body Keeps The Score” by Bessel Van Der Kolk
Where do I start? This book was absolutely excellent! It really did cover everything regarding the brain, mind, and the body in the healing of trauma. I love the detail and explanations that Dr. Van Der Kolk covered in this book.
I was able to understand everything that he explained and I was able to relate much of what he covered in his book t my own personal life, wartime and military experiences. This book has a very rich amount of information that will assist even the most novice of us in the subject matter.
We really do not give our bodies the credit it deserves, we certainly do not treat our bodies with the respect and care it deserves either, well at least some of us do not. We really do not know how complex a machine we really are. Only a God that is in heaven could have designed such a complex and sophisticated peace of work.
Our mind is so complex and fascinating and I was so impressed with the amount of study and research that this doctor and so many others have put towards trying to figure out the workings of the mind and brain.
This book was recommended to me by my instructor in the Personal Growth class and I am glad that I took the time out to read it and examine all of the points made. I am excited to share that I found out a lot about how complex our mind really is and this should be a great read for someone that is interested in the whole process of how the body, brain and the mind responds when trauma is encountered.
I can apply much of what I learned to my life going forward because the book covers exactly what all of us go through or know of someone else that has been through or is currently going through. The human body does not know race, color, creed or ethnicity when it comes to trauma. Pain is pain, hurt is hurt, bad experiences are bad experiences and none of those thing matter with regards to ethnicity, gender, or culture. When bad things happen your brain and body will respond.
I like this book because it will share one of many ways that the brain works and the studies that went into the findings will peak your interest I am sure just as it did for me. There are techniques and strategies that can be sued to over some stress and trauma in order to lead a normal life without the dependence of drugs and painful therapy. It’s all about balance, how to listen to your body and achieve balance in the mind. Actually, it is like trying to find a way to reset the brain after tragedy or trauma.
Thank you to all of the experts in this field of study and for the positive changes and improvements that are made to us in the human race as a result!
Great book, great information! I highly recommend this book it is a good read! READ THIS BOOK!
Thank you,
