I read this book because it was recommended by my class instructor.
This is a good read by Dr. Frankl . He argues that we cannot avoid suffering but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose. He accounts for his time in the concentration camp and describes how he was able to make it during this terrible time in his life. Frankl’s theory known as logo therapy, from the Greek word logos (“meaning”) holds that our primary drive in life in not pleasure as Dr. Freud maintained in his studies, but the discovery and pursuit of what we personally find meaningful.
This book was very deep, his in depth coverage and many examples that he shared will draw you into the experience he had and you will likely come out on the other side of this book with a great understanding of the meaning of life through his eyes and be able to apply what he learned to your own life and experiences now. The Nazi death camps were a terrible time and period of time that certainly left a stain on mankind like many other historical tragedies of the past and present.
I would certainly recommend this reading if you have a strong constitution, he was not too graphic in his descriptions, so it would be a “G” rated book for you to read.
Thank you,
