Book Report

I just finished reading this book that was recommended to me by the calls instructor of a class that I am attending called “Personal Growth”

This was an awesome book and I highly recommend that you read this when you get a chance.

This book is about Dana a modern black woman celebrating her 26th birthday with her new husband when she is snatched abruptly from her home in California and transported to the antebellum South. Rufus, the white son of a plantation owner, is drowning , and Dana has been summoned across years to save him. After this first summons, Dana is drawn back, again and again, to the plantation to protect Rufus and ensure that he will grow to manhood and father the daughter who will become Dana’s ancestor. Yet each time Dana’s sojourns become longer and more dangerous, until it is uncertain whether or another life will end, long before it has ever begun.

Of course this book is fictional, however it gives you a look at how life was most likely lived by folks that were slaves during that time. This book gave me a real appreciation for where I am now and how I have lived my life thus far.

There have been so many people that have had a hard time, a hard life, a much rougher time and they made the most of it. I appreciate all of the milestones and accomplishments that has been reached here in America to provide us the freedoms that we enjoy now. Much of the suffering and struggles of those in the past has paved the way in so many ways that many people in our era take for granted. Medication, employment, free speech, voting rights, medical advancements, food and agriculture, equal rights for men, women, children, racial fairness, discrimination laws, retirement, and liberty PERIOD!

I enjoyed this book, it was action packed and very informational. I have a new found respect for the struggles and hardships that many black Americans of the past had to endure and I will do my very best to respect and support the advancements that has resulted from their struggles!
