I chose to read this book because it gave a bird’s eye view of the journey of an attorney who made it his aim and goal to help inmates that were placed on death row.
I learned that there is a problem, a serious problem in the United States American Justice System when it comes to true justice for people that happen to be Black or Brown in many instances especially down south in the many states that in the bible belt and that were formerly slave states. Getting justice for many of these inmates were extremely hard and getting fair trials was even harder according to the accounts that many of these attorneys shared in the book. It took many years and tough litigation to get hearings and twisting of arms to push for basic justice that was afforded to Americans under the US Constitution.
My aim and my goal to to help where I can to speak to at risk groups and share in the community my experience and hope that what I have learned and what I share can prevent at risk groups to reconsider and change their actions.
