I chose to read this book because it came from none other than Michael Santos himself. It was a book that gave us an inside look at his life and the start of his journey into the Federal Prison system.
I saw through reading his book the first hand experiences that he encountered. The initial process and the procedures that he went through during his many years of incarceration.
I learned that inmates who do their time should be allowed access to re-entry assistance, rehabilitation education, and afforded their constitutional rights upon release that were removed while in custody. If this is not provided, many of these people will be unemployable, and permanently stripped of basic rights to survive.
The lessons that I learned that I will apply upon my release is making sure that I seek employment, fight to have my constitutional rights restored, seek assistance for my employment prospects and apply all of my energy and experience on remaining a law abiding citizen.
