Book Report

I chose to read this book to give me more insight from an attorney’s view point about the abuses that are taken with regards to Prosecutors. I am glad that I read this book and I am grateful that the author was very specific and detailed in his account of what he experienced as a young attorney and how his journey through the Justice system has been an asset to those that were in need of legal representation.

I had no idea that Prosecutors had the kind of power that currently have and can charge defendants with multiple charges in order to scare them into taking a plea deal in order to WIN. It’s not about Justice, it’s about winning or it’s about securing a suspect and prosecuting anyone in order to solve a crime by any means.

Abusive authority by prosecutors is very common, most prosecutors that have been guilty of misconduct go unpunished. Prosecutors have been allowed to cherry pick what they will or will not decide to charge, and they are allowed to bring as many charges as they wish against a suspect. Then they offer a plea deal which the suspect will likely take to avoid decades in prison.

Something has to be done in order to bring about checks and balances. Accountability has to come into the picture in order to ensure fairness and equal justice under the Law.

Anger and fear is the driving force behind why America’s justice system has become bitter, unfair, abusive, vindictive, unjust, and absent of mercy.

As a result of reading this book, I am more encouraged to work with organizations and community programs to speak to at risk families, youth, adults and groups in order to inform the community of the hazards that await them if they commit crimes, or if they do not educate themselves or their families.

I want to help, when I get out, I want to speak out and help the poor and those who cannot afforded legal representation for crimes that they have been accused of. I want to be a voice and a sounding board for the at risk and needy that might find themselves in the grips of the underbelly of the American Justice system.
