Love Your Enemies by Dirk Williams
This book is based on the biblical principle of “Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, and do good to those you hate you”.
Dirk was an Anabaptist, which means a rebaptizer, meaning he confessed a personal faith in Jesus Christ and his daily life was a reflection of Christ also. A peace loving people, they were threatened by a group of hate filled people in Holland in1569. One day while hunting Dirk was found by one such group and he took off running through the woods until he came to a frozen river which he successfully crossed, however his assailant wasn’t as fortunate and fell through the ice. Dirk turned around and saw what had happened and because of his faith and moral convictions he went back and helped the assailant out of the freezing waters. As a result of his decision Dirk was captured by the rest of the prevailing group and eventually burnt at the stake, but with peace in his heart and a joy in his soul. Which brings us to the second Biblical tenant ” Great love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” John 15:13
This personally has been a real challenge for me. I understand and agree with these Biblical principles whole heartily however it is still a challenge to pray for or bless those who intentionally hurt my family or myself. I can think of one individual who used to work for us that was a “whistleblower” in my case, and now after the case she has went on the internet under different fake accounts and aliases or to report to different media outlets in our area that “Dr. Kirby Perrault is a fraud or a felon” and the charges and results of my sentencing. I’m continuing to pray for her, not wishing any ill will upon her and actually the complete opposite that she would be blessed in her life and endeavors.
